TESTIMONIALS ABOUT HOW TO BE YOUR OWN BODYGUARD

Self Protection Delivered in Fine Style

The best thing about Nick Hughes’s book is not the wealth of sound advice or the real-world experience, it’s Nick himself and the way he writes.
For most of us, violence is a thing we contemplate from a distance, a potential threat we may encounter rarely or never. Nick writes about it as a daily occurrence, which for him, it often was. His life reads like a modern-day swashbuckling adventure from Australia to Europe and America, living as a karate man and bouncer… a paratrooper in the Foreign Legion… a bodyguard to rock bands and oil sheiks… a combat instructor to special forces… and most recently, a star in Spike TV’s Deadliest Warrior.
Nick also references other expert sources to create a concise but complete self-protection manual. And in true Nick style, he pulls no punches and explodes a few myths along the way, for example, about what is and isn’t a useful art, a useful tool, and a useful weapon.

Read This

If I were a rock star, I’d want Nick Hughes at my back. But I’m not, so I’ll have the next best thing: I’ll keep him on my kindle.

Best I’ve Read

I do, in fact, work as a Bodyguard. During my training, we were introduced to numerous books that were recommended by the instructors, specifically The Bodyguards Bible, which was required reading and had drills that formed part of the course work.
We weren’t introduced to Mr. Hughes’ book (I had already read it before my CP Course), and I can now honestly say that this book which I revisit constantly when I’m working, is hands down the best book in the whole self-defense genre.
This book is light years ahead of the Bodyguards bible, you could, in fact, build a pretty decent CP course around this book alone it’s that good. Everything in it is relevant and interesting, it has techniques and tactics that limit your risk of being attacked, and there’s nothing left out here. I highly recommend this book it is basically a fascinating risk management book, it carries excellent advice for keeping yourself and your client (if you’ve got one) out of trouble. Yes, it is that good!

It’s Worth its Weight in Gold

This book was absolutely eye-opening. Everyone – and I mean everyone – should read this book and gain insights within it. Even if you think you know how to defend yourself, you also need to know how to stay out of trouble with the law. Who knew?
I purchased and read this book cause I’m anticipating buying a gun for self-protection in my home, and it was recommended by the gun club to read this book. I’m so glad I did. I’ll still buy the gun, but that’s not what’s going to keep me safe. We all know that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and so it goes with self-protection. Have your children, your parents, and your friends read this book. It’s worth its weight in gold.

Pleasantly Surprised

After reading countless books on self-defense/self-protection over the years, I wasn’t expecting to find anything new in this book. But I’d thought I’d give it a punt because I’d heard good things about the author, and I wanted to try out this new Kindle thingy.
I am glad to say I was wrong. This book is a definite must-read for people interested in practical self-protection.

Ignore This Book at Your Peril

Something you should always question when reading something like this is the credentials of the person writing it. In this case, you need have no worries because there can be few men better qualified than Nick Hughes to write this book. Nick has approached combat from many different perspectives – street, dojo, door, military – and all of that hard-won knowledge has gone into the creation of this book. This is not simply a book for those involved in self-protection, martial arts, or security work; this is literally a book for everyone. Ignore it at your peril.

If You Live in the Real World, You Need This Book

I’ve read quite a few books on the subject of self-defense and personal protection. This one is the best. It’s a tough, level-headed treatment of the subject, written by gentleman warrior Nick Hughes.
Nick is a world-class martial arts instructor and personal protection professional. In this book, he gives us the opportunity to share the lessons learned (some of them the hard way) from his decades of experience.
He writes with clarity, common sense, and just the right touch of humor. I especially like the reasonable tone of his prose and the absence of macho chest-thumping. He covers all the bases in a logical, systematic fashion.
You need this book.

A Must-Read Self-Defense Work of Genius

I’ve read quite a few books on personal defense but none as comprehensive as this one. I couldn’t put it down, kept me yearning for more. The degree of knowledge I had beforehand was both diminished and enhanced by Nick’s real-life situations. An easy read broken into organized segments that flow well into one another.
The distillation of his extraordinary range of professional skills and immense practical application is beyond comprehension. Everyone needs to have this book in their arsenal of defense and take it to heart. The newfound sense of security it provides, given you take his teachings and apply them with diligence, will extend a new level of comfort and awareness. This is the definitive text that has set the bar to new heights. Do not hesitate, buy it now. It might just save your life or that of a loved one!!!

More Than Worth Every Penny

Nick Hughes is one of those practitioners that people in the industry sometimes hear about. Not everyone has heard of him of course, but when you talk to the best people in the field–the really knowledgeable people–they all exude admiration and respect for him, and many give him credit for enhancing their own abilities. He’s not a self-promoter but he is the real deal.
Every word in this book is true. Even after a couple of decades in the self-defense/personal protection industry, I learned a great deal.  There’s much more to the book than physical hand-to-hand skills. There’s a true professional’s perspective on home, travel, vehicle security, and much more.
More than worth every penny.

THE Book on Self Protection

Nick Hughes is to self-protection as McDonald’s is to hamburgers. This book is the strongest taste possible to sampling Nick’s work without standing next to him.
As someone who has been training in MA for over 20 years, I can honestly say that if you don’t learn something from Nick, then greetings, alien; welcome to our planet.

Nick Knows Human Conflict

I’ve been a student of defensive tactics for thirty years and read a good many books on the subject. This is one of the most practical I have ever seen. Nick Hughes has a particular way of cutting through the foofaraw and getting to the yolk of the egg. Along with being an excellent ‘textbook’, it’s an enjoyable and entertaining read.
He’s able to lean on years of real-world experience to demonstrate the entire process of keeping yourself safe–most importantly (in my opinion) preparation and instinct. His personal stories, anecdotes, and subject-matter expertise make his explanations of the basics–from safety during a disaster to surviving a pending assault by an irate bar patron–easy to digest.
It has been said that everyone THINKS they have a plan until they get punched in the beak. Well, Nick Hughes has a plan that can benefit those who take the time to read his book–and keep that punch from connecting with said beak.
Outstanding.

The Voice of Experience

Within the tactical training community, this book is already causing a stir and has been acclaimed by his fellow professionals.
This could well be the most important book you buy this year.
