CHOOSE ADVENTURE REVIEW
If you follow my blog at all, you probably know who Greg Ellifritz is already. If you don’t, he’s a recently retired police officer from central Ohio who publishes a prolific blog and runs a training company called “Active Response Training.” He recently wrote a book about traveling safely in dangerous places called, Choose Adventure. Get a copy if you’re a serious student of self-defense and or self-protection. Now, read on for my “Choose Adventure” review.
TWO HIGHLIGHTER BOOK
What in hell is a two-highlighter book? It’s a book that you’ll highlight so many passages that you’ll burn through 2 highlighters.
When I heard that the author was writing a book, I was over the moon. I read over 150 books a year, mostly non-fiction, and am always on the lookout for the best.
I’ve been lucky enough to have attended one of his tac-med classes (go if you can), so I already knew 2 things. 1. He’s a subject matter expert, and 2, he can impart his hard-won knowledge. Not every knowledgeable person can.
His book didn’t disappoint. Furthermore, I don’t think you can call yourself a student of self-protection/security/and self-defense if you don’t have a well-read copy.
It’s right up there with Robert Pelton’s works (another author who should be in your library) and is chock full of useful information. In fact, I don’t think you can find a single page that doesn’t have some kernel of well-earned knowledge on it.
IS IT ONLY FOR PEOPLE TRAVELING TO THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES?
In case you’re wondering if it’s only for people looking to travel to third-world countries, rest assured, it’s not. The sections on hotels, airports, and technology alone make it worth having for anyone, even if they’re never planning to leave CONUS.
PS: Once you get a copy, you’ll also want to subscribe to his blog. I’m not sure how he does it. When I try and come up with an idea to write about on mine, it’s like hunting for truffles. Mr. Ellifritz, on the other hand, must have found the motherlode because he churns out highly useful information on just about a daily basis, and he’s been doing it for years. Go and fill yer boots.
